Mold Repairer

Responsibilities

  • Repair molds and secondary tooling
  • Perform minor revisions independently, and more complicated revisions with some guidance and/or assistance
  • Troubleshoot mold problems and help keep production molds in efficient operating condition
  • Schedule work in order to meet due dates
  • Assembly and disassembly of all components required in mold repair process
  • Set up and operate tool room equipment, including manual and/or CNC, EDM
  • May subcontract to vendors providing the required information in coordination with mold manufacturing/mold repair managers
  • May be responsible for heat treating all steels commonly used in mold manufacturing/repair
  • May be responsible for welding including micro welding
  • Support/communicate with production team, other mold manufacturers/repairers, apprentices and engineers
  • Troubleshoot and assemble manifold system
  • Maintain tools so they stay in correct working order
  • Do minor maintenance on machines in tool room
  • Ability to work in a team environment to assure tooling responsibilities are covered for production needs even on off shifts
  • May require being on call during weekends
  • Some programs may have vision requirements

  • Actively participate in continual improvement/innovation, corrective action and internal/external customer satisfaction

Qualifications - Education & Experience

  • Two-year degree in machine tooling or similar discipline; or equivalent mix of education and experience
  • Completed apprentice program; or equivalent experience

Qualifications - Skills & Competencies

  • Associates degree in machine tooling or similar discipline; or equivalent mix of education and experience
  • Completion of apprenticeship program; or equivalent experience
  • Minimum six (6) years of experience at a journeyman level
  • Ability to work under little or no supervision
  • Ability to complete start to finish improvements
  • Strong written verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong working knowledge of plastic injection molds
  • Ability to successfully coordinate and work on multiple large scale projects simultaneously
  • Extensive knowledge in tool design and tool building in the injection molding industry
  • Good judgment and effective problem solving skills
